Shooting For Editorial Look 1

When shooting for my first editorial look I found it very fun and exciting which I felt was a great mood to feel when shooting this look. I related this look to the new Max Factor Marilyn Monroe lipstick collection for spring 2016. I feel I had the model for this shoot.
I partened my models hair to the side and put her hair in heated rollers to give me the tight blonde curls for the Marilyn Monroe hair look.
I kept the skin complexion quite pale but natural looking and highlighted certain areas such as across the top of the cheek bones and down the bridge of the nose. I used a light coloured eye-shadow, I didn't want it to be too dark on the eyelids as the attention is more on the boldness of the lashes. I did a couple of coats of mascara on the lashes to make them thick and dark as Marilyn Monroe's would look, with my model I may apply natural false lashes depending on how long her lashes are. I also darkened the eyebrows slightly using a light brown eye-shadow and a sharp eye-brow pencil to define the outer side of the brows. I then used a red lip liner to go around the shape of the lips to make them look more plump and give more definition to them and then I placed a ruby red lipstick onto the whole lip. With a black eye liner pen I then gently created a dot on the side of the smile line.
My model wore a peachy coloured flared dress with pleats in it which really linked in well with the Marilyn Monroe style and also related well with the spring/summer 2016 trend. I also used rose petals as a prop instead of roses to change it up and make it my own.
I used a few locations when doing my shoot to enable me to get my desired image. My first location was on a fashionable chair in my hallway which I feel linked in well with my theme as Marilyn Monroe often had a chair as a prop in many of her images. I also used the stairs as this enabled my model to pose in various ways which linked in with Marilyn Monroe's most popular poses. My final location was outside as I felt shooting outside it would give me natural light with natural cool breezes to get a softer looking image.
The locations I used I felt were all quite relaxed environments as most of Marilyn Monroe's shoots are all natural looking with a relaxed feel to them.
My favourite pose was with my model blowing the rose petals from her hands into the air as I feel this looked very natural, fun and romantic. It looked really effective.
Overall I was extremely happy with this shoot. I feel my model looked great and I managed to capture some amazing images.
