Practising Catwalk Looks

Catwalk Look 1

So I came to the decision that I would be creating the Stormtrooper Star Wars look by Max Factor for my first catwalk look. In order for me to create the look I firstly watched a tutorial on YouTube (shown below) which explains how to create the Stormtrooper look. I found this video very helpful when practising for my look.

Below shows some images of me experimenting and trying out the make up to get my desired look.

Firstly I began by recreating the Stormtrooper look on my model, following the steps given from the video I watched. I found it a bit tricky and very time consuming, however this was my first attempt of practising the look so I feel with more practice I will be able to complete the look a bit faster. I found I kept smudging the eye make up, especially on the creases when the model opened her eyes. I had to keep correcting it but I feel this was due to the make up products I was using which was from the Kryolan Supracolor Pallet so I had to come up with another plan so this wouldn't keep occurring. I decided to place a matte eye-shadow over the top using the same colours from my Kryolan Viva Brilliant Colour Medley Matt Pallet which I feel helped greatly. Although I found it quite time consuming I was happy with the overall look seen as it was my first attempt.
I then decided I wanted to switch it up slightly as it wasn't matching in with spring/summer 2016 and I also wanted to add my own touch to it. So therefore I practised again on myself using pinks and blues to incorporate the look with spring/summer 2016. I found this time round creating the look much easier because I had already practised it so I had more of an idea of what to do and completed the look at a much faster pace. I feel the pinks and blues went really well together and I even added glitter to the lips to change it up slightly. I also feel that by using the Supracolours it gave it a metallic look which also represents spring/summer 2016 as metallic is very popular this season.

For the hair I wanted to keep the theme of futuristic and I quite like the idea of the sleek, gelled back hair which is pulled right back off the face as shown in the Star Wars image of the character Droid. I also found another image of Droid which shows two colours going through the hair which I quite liked the idea of. However I would change this slightly in order to match the colours I have used in my make up, so I will probably go with a pink and blue coloured hair spray.

Catwalk - Look 2
For my second catwalk look I used all my research and gathered all my ideas together to develop my own look. Firstly I definitely knew I would be using the colour gold as it is a great trend for spring/summer 2016 as well as the metallic of the gold. I also feel that by using metallic gold it fits in well with my chosen brand Max Factor as they partnered up with Star Wars for their new film and this links in well giving it a futuristic feel. As gold represents wealth I decided I wanted to incorporate a lot of gold jewellery in my shoot such as gold rings, bangles and a necklace that is placed around the neckline. I was also thinking to add some funky, futuristic pointed false nails to add more detail. I also decided to go for metallic gold around the eyes and lips, similar to Droids make up from Star Wars but not quite as far up on the eyes. I highlighted the cheekbones the bridge of the nose and the centre of the forehead with a light shimmery colour and contoured the cheek bones with a light bronzed colour. I also liked the idea of the under liner which is another top trend this season for spring/summer 2016 so also added this into my look by placing some patterned stickers under the eyes for the under liner, I got this inspiration from the gold, clad, Egyptology beauty looks The Blonds shown in my research and ideas post.
Below shows some images of my practice look for my second catwalk look.

The model I am using for my shoot has quite short hair so there isn't a huge amount I can do when styling it. I would have loved to have used gold hair cones as shown in some of the images on my research and ideas post, however I wouldn't be sure this would work too well with my models hair being short. So instead I have decided that I will probably just give it a sleek, pulled back look and decorate it with hair accessories, such as, a gold leaf hair band as the leaves on the hair band will also represent spring 2016. Or I may even go with a Chignon bun if my model has enough hair to do this.
